Tennessee Cove

Tennessee Valley cuts down through the Marin Headlands to Tennessee Cove, a small pocket beach framed by coastal bluffs and a dramatic sea arch. The easy valley trail — wildflowers, a lagoon, and ocean at the end — is one of the most popular walks just north of the Golden Gate. We've walked it as a family more than once over the years, going all the way back to when the kids were little.

The point was named in 1603 by Spanish explorer Sebastián Vizcaíno, who sailed past on the Feast of the Three Kings — Punta de los Reyes, "Point of the Kings."
