A Reno-weekend classic. From the Mt. Rose Trailhead on the Tahoe Rim, up past
the waterfall meadow and around the shoulder to the final push. The summit of
Mt. Rose (10,785 ft) is the highest around Reno, and the payoff is a full
360: Lake Tahoe on one side, the Truckee Meadows and the desert stretching east
on the other.
Wind was howling at the top, so it was a quick summit photo and back down to the
meadow for lunch out of the gusts.
Highlight: Tahoe and the high desert in a single panorama.
Note: afternoon thunderstorms build fast up here in July — summit early.
